Frequently Asked Questions
Disposables CompatibilityAre SensaT.R.A.C.® Dressings compatible with the V.A.C. ATS® Therapy System?
Yes. The SensaT.R.A.C.® Dressing tubing connector can be easily connected to the V.A.C. ATS® Canister tubing connector. However, the maximum benefit of the SensaT.R.A.C.® Dressings can only be realized through their use with the InfoV.A.C.® (or ActiV.A.C.®) Therapy Units.
Are the SensaT.R.A.C.® disposables the same for the ActiV.A.C.® and the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy System units?
The dressing kits (and part numbers) are the same for both therapy units. However, the canisters are different as they are specific to each therapy unit. The ActiV.A.C.® 300 mL canister is compatible with (but not optimized for use with) the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit. The InfoV.A.C.® 500 mL and 1,000 mL canisters are not compatible with the ActiV.A.C.® Therapy Unit.
Seal Check™
How does Seal Check™ work?
The Seal Check™ feature uses a very sensitive airflow meter to constantly measure the rate of air flowing through a breach in a dressing seal. The higher the rate of airflow measured by the meter, the higher the audible tone and the higher the bar displayed on screen. When a clinician partially occludes the breach in the seal with their hand, the audible tone and on-screen bar will decrease as the airflow (leak) decreases. This pinpoints the location to patch.
When a Leak Alarm occurs, will the patient be automatically subjected to the steady beeping of the Seal Check™ feature?
No. In the event of an air leak above the allowable leak threshold, a “Leak Alarm” screen will appear and a warning beep will sound. To access the Seal Check™ troubleshooting feature, the “Seal Check™” button would then have to be selected and the “Seal Audio” button pressed before the steady beeping of the Seal Check™ feature would be heard.
Settings Guide
When V.A.C.® Therapy is “On” and a different pressure setting is selected using the Up/Down arrows on the Pressure Settings screen, the pressure doesn’t immediately adjust to the new pressure setting. Why?
Any change to the therapy settings (Pressure, Continuous/Intermittent, Intensity) will not be implemented until the user exits the Settings screen and selects “OK” on the Confirm screen. This new confirmation feature helps to protect against unintentional changes to the therapy settings.
Digital Imaging
What type of camera and memory card are compatible with the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy System digital imaging feature?
Secure Digital (SD) cards are compatible with the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit.
Wound imaging area and volume calculation features are not intended to be exact measurements and are not intended for use in the diagnosis and treatment of wounds.
How many digital images can be stored at one time in the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit’s internal memory?
Approximately 20 digital images (at a 5 Mega Pixel resolution) can be stored in the InfoV.A.C.® unit’s internal memory at one time.
How can the clinician/user be sure that a patient’s wound images/wound information stored in the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy System unit’s internal memory aren’t accessed by unauthorized personnel during V.A.C.® Therapy and after the patient’s V.A.C.® Therapy is discontinued?
The patient’s wound images/wound information is password protected. The designated clinician chooses the password for access to this information. When the patient’s V.A.C.® Therapy is discontinued, the designated clinician can enter the password-protected section of the InfoV.A.C.® screen menus, and press the “Delete History” button to totally erase the patient’s wound images/wound information from the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit’s internal memory. If the care-providing clinician fails to erase this information prior to the pickup of the therapy unit, the KCI Service Team will automatically erase this patient wound image/wound information record as a part of the routine InfoV.A.C.® Therapy System unit Q.C. process. It is important to note that KCI personnel will not be able to view this information since the required password is not accessible to KCI.
How can a clinician quickly determine if a patient’s wound image/wound information record is still stored in the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit’s internal memory?
At the bottom of the Home Screen, to the right of the “Battery” symbol, an “Open Book” symbol will be displayed if the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit’s internal memory contains a patient wound image/wound information record.
How can the clinician/user save the patient’s wound images/wound information for later reference?
The patient’s wound images/wound information can be transferred from the InfoV.A.C.® Therapy Unit’s internal memory to an SD Memory Card, USB Memory Stick, or via Infrared transmission to another IR-compatible device. Exporting this information can be accomplished by selecting the appropriate “Export” button in the password-protected section of the InfoV.A.C.® menu.
